18.Invention, Intellectual Property and Income
This week we worked on the topic of licenses, oh well, each work deserves its recognition and that is why we must know what tools we have in our favor.
Intellectual property relates to the creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, as well as symbols, names and images used in commerce. Intellectual property is divided into three categories: (1) copyright and related rights; (2) industrial property and (3) the use of biotechnologies. Moral rights and economic rights are predicated on copyright and related rights. The rights of the creator and the rights of exploitation are predicated on industrial property and biotechnology.
What is Creative Commons?
It is an organization that allows people to publish their creative works under a license that allows more flexibility than the “all rights reserved” that comes by default in copyright laws.
In Creative Commons, every creative work receives copyright protection automatically from the moment you prepare the work by putting pen to paper, typing save, or pressing record. This protection reserves all the rights of the creator of the work. No one may use said work without express written permission except where fair use is legally determined.
